Freddie Frinton (1909 - 1968) was an English actor and comedian who became famous in many European countries except the UK with the comedy sketch "Dinner for One" where he played the butler James serving at the 90th. birthday of Miss Sophie played by May Warden.
The only problem for him is that her guests Mr. Pomeroy, Mr. Winterbottom, Sir Toby and Admiral von Schneider doesn't live anymore so James has to be stand in for them, that means also drink her toast with the result that he gets drunk.
Every new years evening this sketch is shown in European TV stations. Since 1963 in Germany. But 1985 Danish TV, DR, decided to take it off dut that ended in a huge protest and if Facebook existed that time DR would end up in the worst shit storm ever.
His grave is at Hanwell Cemetery.
