Giorgio Moroder is a three-time Academy Award-winning composer and lyricist. He co-wrote the Oscar-winning original songs "Take My Breath Away" from the 1986 box-office smash Top Gun and "Flashdance... What a Feeling" from the 1983 hit Flashdance. He also won an Oscar for original score for the 1978 thriller Midnight Express, and a Grammy and Golden Globe for his work on the Flashdance soundtrack.

He's also penned the scores for such hit films as American Gigolo, Scarface and The Never Ending Story, and worked with seminal artists like Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer, Elton John, Cher, Roger Daltrey, Janet Jackson, Freddy Mercury, David Bowie and Pat Benatar. He also founded the now-defunct Musicland Studios in Munich, which served as the recording studio for such bands as Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones.

He wrote also Olympics theme songs for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea, as well as the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
