This is actually Glacier Bay, and was the location of a massive glacier during the 1700s. The entire Bay can be seen here:

In the far bottom right corner of that map was the furthest extent of the glacier, at the mouth of the bay. By the late 1700's the glacier began receding, more quickly then any other glacier has. At the very top left corner of the map you can see where the main branch of the glacier is now, it has reached the Canadian border and is called the Grand Pacific Glacier.
