This 56-foot, golden concrete spike was erected in 1939, marking the eastern terminus of the Union Pacific Railroad. The monument's dedication, April 28, 1939, coincided with Omaha's premiere showing of the film, "Union Pacific." This historic monument was recently refurbished and stands as a towering reminder of the grit and determination, which built the first transcontinental railroad.
