The Prime Minister of Qatar will be building a home on this vacant 8.5 acre parcel in Bel Air. He purchased the land in late 2010 from billionaire Tom Gores for a reported $34.5 million.
In April 2012, the Prime Minister offered to pay approximately $30 million for two of late heiress Huguette Clark's apartments in Manhattan, but was rebuffed by her building's co-op board. Part of the reason was rumored to be the size of his family and entourage, as he has two wives and fifteen children. Al Thani also owns the Al Mirqab, which is the eighth-largest yacht in the world and reportedly cost him more than $250 million to build.
