Harper Dry Lake

Harper Dry Lake

Lockhart, California (CA), US
The dry lake was used as a landing strip by aerospace companies developing experimental aircraft in the 1940's and 1950's. Howard Hughes had an aircraft hangar at the lake, and the Northrop company developed flying wings at facilities on the southwest corner of lake. Talk about a commercial space port being constructed on the lake has died down, but a power plant that harnesses methane from cows is being considered for this site.
