I was stationed at Giebelstadt AAF from 87 to 92, doing weather observations, also certified at Kitzingen.
Yes, it is Kitzingen, though obviously the base is no longer there. You can follow the Main river down to where I lived, in Ochsenfurt, and from there easily find Giebelstadt.
This is Bavaria folks.

Yes, this is Kitzingen. I was an MP! 212 MP co, from 80 to 84. I don't bought something was wrong with this picture also. I am here today, and this is definitely it. The runway is gone now also, this is being turned into a tech park. No pictures are allowed now and it is privately owned. Nothing looks the same except for the bridge, which is now foot traffic only, the tower, and a few other landmarks. It is built up and modernized almost beyond recognition! Not allowed on Larson at all, and Marshall heights housing is off limits too! Still a beautiful city though, glad to be back for a trip down memory lane!

Having flown in and out of Kitzingen Army Air Field literally hundreds of times especially as a border pilot from 1957 to 1962 I an tell you that it was located in West Germany, not East Germany. Don
