This is a freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the Western US, straddling the border between CA and NV. Lying at 1,897 m above sea level, this is the largest alpine lake in North America, and at 150.7 km3, it trails only the Great Lakes as the largest by volume in the country. Its depth is 501 m, making it the 2nd deepest in the US after Crater Lake in OR.
