Location of the first Ben & Jerry's (now gone)

Burlington, Vermont (VT), US
This is the very spot where Cherry Garcia was first served, and a pilgrimage site for all true ice-cream freaks. It's where Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream got its start -- akin to A.G. Bell's lab or the Hewlett-Packard garage. Unfortunately, there's not much to see... just a plaque on a street corner.

The plaque was embedded in the sidewalk at the location of the first store on the company's 10th anniversary. The original store inhabited an old gas station, but it was demolished long ago. All that remains is a dirt and gravel parking lot, and the plaque noting the company's founding on May 5, 1978.
