Loring Andrews was a New York industrialist who built this house in 1872. Andrews sold the home to Theodore Havermire, a businessman in the sugar industry, in 1880. Havermire founded the Newport Country Club and United States Golf Association. In 1902 the home was sold to Pembroke Jones, who leased the home to John Jacob Astor in 1903.
The home, as it currently stands, was converted into apartments in 1972.
