The Modern Diner, a 1941 Sterling Streamliner (#4140), was the first diner to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Modern has perhaps the most imaginative weekend brunch menu of any diner in Rhode Island. Items like lobster Benedict, cream cheese-and-blueberry stuffed French toast, kielbasa-and-cheddar omelets, and pumpkin-walnut pancakes keep the place hopping, often with a line out the door.
