Looks like a radial engine to me. I'm thinking Skyraider.

You're right, it does look a little radial-ish. If not the Skyraider, how about a P-47 Thunderbolt?

I thought that at first, but the Thunderbolt has distinctively elliptical wingtips.

Looks like North American AT-6 Texan to me. They were often converted to represent various WWII aircraft for movies because they were (and are) easily and more cheaply available than the real thing.

I think Hinkkanen could be right. It does look Texan-ish, except for the canopy, which is smaller and farther back than on a standard Texan, and I think the wings have been configured to look Mustangish.

Got an email reply from the airport manager:

"(T)he old world two aircraft you see on the Apron near the terminal is a T-6 Warbird that belongs to a Mr. Ott. He is the guy who comes to the airport every July for a month with the T-6 to offer rides and also offers people to fly it, at a cost of course."
