The sun cannot light the Earth from the north. The shades are always pointed at the north direction. This is why we have sometimes the feeling that the images of the northern hemisphere are upside down.
But on this image, the sun seems to shine the landscape from north.

Impossible ? Yes. In fact, by heating the zones exposed to the south, the sun melted snow. And the ground, darker than snow seems a shade.
