The stadium is named after Paul Brown, a former Tigers coach (1932-40), who went on to coach at Ohio State University, and the NFL's Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. In 1967, he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in nearby Canton. He passed away in 1991.
