Collins purchased the home after his August 2008 divorce from his third wife, Orianne Cevey. The house they shared previously had been in nearby Begnins, Switzerland. He chose to remain in Switzerland to be near the two children he and Cevey share. He also maintains residences in New York City and in Dersingham, England.

Collins began his professional music career in 1970 as a drummer for Genesis. After original Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel left the band in 1975, Collins became the singer. Collins left the band in 1996 to focus on his successful solo career. He is known best for his many solo hits such as “In the Air Tonight”, “Against All Odds”, “Sussudio”, and “Another Day in Paradise”.
After struggling for many years with health problems affecting his hearing and his hands, Collins officially retired from music in 2011 to focus on being a full-time father, though there are frequent rumors of his return to music. He has been married three times and has four children, including actress/model Lily Collins, his daughter from his second marriage.
