On March 30, 1981, Presdient Ronald Reagan was shot by John Hinckley. Reagan was walking from the Washington Hilton Hotel to his motorcade, when Hinckley emerged from the crowd. Six shots were fired, wounding Reagan, White House Press Secretary James Brady, a DC police officer, and a Secret Service agent. Reagan spent 13 days in the hospital, and the two officers recovered, but Brady was permanently disabled from the gunshot.
