Son House (March 21, 1902– October 19, 1988) was a blues singer and slide guitar player known for his emotional playing and singing style. Son started out to be a preacher, after rejecting farming. He also spent two years in the Mississippi State Penitentiary aka Parchman Farm for killing a man in self defense.

Son's best known songs are: "Death Letter", "John the Revelator" and "Grinnin' in Your Face".
