The Road-Scanner fulfils the following requirements:
- Obtaining high quality geo-referenced data;
- Surveying at the same time the vehicle route, the pavement and the roadside assets;
- Developing an efficient imaging system with high potentialities;
- Obtaining a complete system thanks to the integration with the post-processing application Road-SIT;
- Producing geographical databases compatible with the most widespread GIS systems.
The system allows carrying out, in a very short time, an accurate survey of the road infrastructure and the roadside asset: routes, pavements, signs carriageways, sidewalks, slopes, retaining walls, tunnels, bridges, guard-rails, lamps, lay-bys, parking, advertising, bypasses, parks, etc.
Road-Scanner allows you to achieve a full inspection of all the infrastructure components by acquiring automatically several data sets:
- vehicle route longitudinal profile
- pavement roughness (IRI – International Roughness Index)
- geo-referenced images with 5 cameras at a 2-4 meter step
- Asphalt layers and road sub-base conditions through and inspection conducted with the Georadar
- Cross sections every 20-40 cm surveyed with the laser-scanner.
All the data sets are geo-referenced by means of the powerful inertial IXSEA LANDINS navigation system. The post-processing IXSEA POPINS application combines all the data and calculates the exact position and attitude of the system through the Kalman filter.
