Roermond, Netherlands (NL)
In the old cemetery of Roermond you can see this unusual grave site split in two.

Jacobus van Gorkum Warnerus Constantine (1809-1880), a Colonel in the Limburg Cavalry had married Josephina Carlina Petronella Hubertina af Aefferden (1820-1888). He was Protestant confession, she Catholic and because of that they couldn't be united after death in a common grave.

He was then laid to rest in the Protestant part of the cemetery, she 8 years later in the Catholic part. To bring both together again an almost similar gravestone was made on each side with holding hands.
