In many New England towns during the 19th century, the town hall was a center of community activity. Town residents often used these buildings for town meetings, elections, dances and other functions. As a result, the town hall has come to symbolize the beginning of participatory democracy in America. This Greek Revival style structure was built in Greenfield Village in 1929.
The Greenfield Village Town Hall features the largest Gingerbread House at Christmas time.
