Tuschinski Theatre

Tuschinski Theatre

Amsterdam, Netherlands (NL)
In 2002, the theatre is back to where Abraham Tuschinski started in 1911. The French Pathé, which furnished himwith the first material and granted him the first licence, now owns the cinema that bears his name. The Tuschinski theatre is still a household word of film.

Approximately 600.000 people go to watch film there each year, not to mention thousands who specially visit the theatre to admire its splendour. A function the theatre has always fulfilled, that of a première theatre, has been preserved. This can certainly be called a tradition when it comes to James Bond films. The gala première for the European continent is always held at Tuschinski. However, many other films have their Dutch, European or world première at Tuschinski. First of all, its ambience is ideally suited to such festivities. In addition, these are always perfectly organized. The Tuschinski staff is more than capable of making such major events happen. So it comes as no surprise that the Tuschinski Theatre is used increasingly often for events, congresses than film screenings. These days, it is the venue for many a conference, party, fashion show and concert. Television programmes and photograph sessions are also shot at Tuschinski. All this proves once again that this cinema is multifunctional.
