Wheelstanding pickup on display

Clinton, Wisconsin (WI), US
Located alongside Interstate Highway 43 near the Truck in the Tree roadside attraction is a vintage drag racing wheelstanding pickup truck.

These special race vehicles were built with the engine in the rear. While racing down the track with the front tires high off of the ground, the drivers would steer by applying brake pressure to either the left or right rear tire. The floorboard had a clear opening to allow the driver a better forward view during the 1/4 mile wheelstand.

Two of the most famous wheelstanding trucks were The Little Red Wagon and Chuck Poole's Chuckwagon.

If you look off to the right of this truck, there appears to be a peculiarly tall stack of hay bales.
