Woman using a vacuum cleaner

Punaluu, Hawaii (HI), US
A vacuum cleaner, commonly referred to as a vacuum is a device that uses an air pump to create a partial vacuum to suck up dust and dirt, usually from floors. The dirt is collected by either a dustbag or a cyclone for later disposal. Although James Dyson has claimed that he invented the cyclonic vacuum cleaner, Cleveland's P.A. Geier Company obtained a patent on a cyclonic vacuum cleaner in 1928, which was sold to Health-Mor in 1939.
