Woodgrange Park Cemetery

Woodgrange Park Cemetery

East Ham, United Kingdom (GB)
Woodgrange Park Cemetery is a 27-acre cemetery located in London. According to some records, the earliest graves date back to the 1890s. However, many unmarked burials took place in cemetery grounds during the Blitz. A 20ft deep pit was dug in the cemetery and thousands of casualties from the Blitz were placed in the pit.

The graveyard is privately owned and parts it were cleared to make room for 120 two-bedroom flats which saw more than 15.000 skeletons dug up and removed. The graveyard is derelict and overgrown. The chapel was demolished after it was burnt down during an arson attack. Sections of the cemetery have also be cleared to make room for Muslim burials.
