On Monday 1st April 2024 at 14:37 UTC, Milan S58MU, a radio amateur from Slovenia, made contact with Zsolt YO/HA8FY/P, a radio amateur from Hungary, who was operating from Parcul Național Ceahlău (YOFF-0003), on the 30m amateur radio band.
Parcul Național Ceahlău (YOFF-0003), is a protected area of 128,044 hectares located in the central part of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains (Ceahlău massif) in Romania. It was designated as a National Park in 1955 and is an IUCN Management Category II area.
An IUCN Management Category II area is a lived-in working landscape, where the interaction of people with the natural landscape has resulted in a landscape with significant biological, ecological and scenic value. Category II areas are also intended to provide recreational opportunities alongside educational and scientific goals.
