On Friday 29th March 2024 at 17:19 UTC, Lothar DL3HXX, a radio amateur from Germany made contact with Gene NT2A, a radio amateur from Staten Island, NY who was operating using the radio club callsign WI2X. Gene was on the New York State Section of the Appalachian Trail (KFF-5022) and made a total of 46 contacts while on this section of the Trail.
In the state of New York there is a 91.3 mile section of The Appalachian Trail which is a long distance footpath which runs for a total length of over 2,190 miles.
The New York section in the Hudson River Valley is close to New York City and the Harriman State Park where Gene was earlier in the day.
