The Water Nymph was built for owners Clark and Dunn by a Mr Reay in the Walker area of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (England) in 1840.
On 26 May the Times reported that the snow Water Nymph was leaky and towed into Swinemünde by the steamer Sedan after a collision at sea with the Russian steamer Alexandra. This was the last time the Water Nymph was mentioned before her loss on the German coast near Ahrenshoop on 29 August 1875.
