Front page blog layout needs work, the single col layout is very annoying...

Suggestions for what to change? Why is the single column layout annoying?
Note that you can turn off the front page blog. Check out your 'Edit Profile' link and turn the number of blog entries to 0.

It's "annoying" because if there are more than one or two images in the series, there is a lot of scrolling to see them all and finally get to the content. I think they ought to be layed out the same as the daily submissions. My 2 cents!

I do agree with you there. It leads to a lot of vertical whitespace.
The problem here is that the blog is generated from the forum posts where the user specifies where a map shows up... and the forums don't allow for a big degree of post layout options.
I might be able to scan a post and see if two maps appear next to each other without anything else but whitespace, and put them next to each other instead of after each other.
