I have been running into some issues on the search. For example, "geffen" returns some results but does not return "David Geffen's House" Search also doesn't hit when using "david geffen"
Can anyone else confirm? What gives?

A search for "geffen" got me "Virtual Globetrotting: David Geffen's House" as number one hit.

I have also noticed this issue with the search engine since I have been a member of the site. As you stated, the search never returns fragments of a word with an ('s) at the end of it. If you search on just "David", though, the home will be returned in the results. It's only when you search on last name only, without the ('s), that the home would not be returned. I'm not sure how much control the administrator has over tweaking the search rules and criteria for this site, but I am sure it will be looked into by this thread bringing it to light. For now, just know that if you are looking for a specific celebrity home, you must add the ('s), when searching on just the last name, for the results to be returned correctly.

I should also note, like Parabellum said above, that if you search Google for "geffen", it will come up as one of, if not thee top choice. However, the problem lies in the "VGT" aspect of the search engine. Like pmoore66 said, if you do a "VGT" search for "geffen" (without the ('s)), nothing is returned.

Assuming pmoore66 meant the VGT search and not the Google search....
Search for geffen* with a wild card gets all the Geffen, Geffens and Geffen's.
For a two word search do +david +geffen*
(Parabellum's search was using the default Google search.)

Hi pmoore66,
Thanks for your input. I'm working on a new search box that is a lot smarter than the existing one, and searches both VGT's database and Google together, so you can get the best of both words from one search box. I'll be releasing this update soon.
I checked 'geffen' in the new search box and David Geffen's House was returned!

i think the search is better now. Especially that you display the first 4 maps as pictures is cool. Not only a link list like before.
As dda mentioned in his post, i also miss the direct link to the orginal google or live page...
It seems that the page all in all is faster than before.
good work at all.

dda -- the street view maps should look all better now, they use the full frame.
You can still get a direct link to a map by clicking the [URL] button on the top of the map -- is that sufficient?
