Interesting thoughts. I do agree that the Google Maps labels are easier to read, and scan over. However, at the same time, from an artistic perspective, I like the looks of Bing Maps better. It certainly depends on how you're using the maps.

Very interesting. This reminds me of a cartography course I took at DePaul University in 1990 in which a guest speaker from Rand McNally explained the difficulties of giving as much detail as possible without cluttering the map.

The new Bing interface is really troubling to me. I am still trying to make sense of it but I agree with nic, for buildings, it is generally a better view. There are exceptions and the fact that GM covers areas at later dates, there are usually more up-to-date images. .
