1) I don't know if it would be too much work, but I think it would be easier for the users and moderators if users could edit their own entries. For example, if I made a mistake or typo that I recognized right away, I could just go and edit the entry. Something as drastic as changing the thumbnail and map location would still be uneditable though. But if you found a URL link or info, or discovered the city name of the location, you could go back and edit your entry.
2) There are three entries for Angkor Wat in Cambodia, which I think is unneeded:

1) I have been thinking about letting users modify data, but the moderators/admins also want to keep the site consistent to our own categorizing needs. So maybe a link to "notify moderator of a change that should be done", which the mod could quickly approve/deny?

IMHO, I would prefer to keep things as they currently are on this matter. The current system works. Changes requested in comments are getting made fairly quickly, though they do have to wait for a moderator to see them. But that's generally at most a few hours. And the current load of updates is far from overwhelming the moderators. If this site were on the scale of slashdot or Wikipedia, that would be a totally different matter. 
The current system puts the moderators in the middle of all changes (excet comments) as a filter. We have the ability to approve or reject everything that goes on the page. This is good for a number of reasons. A big one is vandalism. Even if users only had control over their own submissions, it would become fairly easy to submit a good map, get it approved, wait a couple of days, then go in and add foul descriptions/links of a number of types. Not saying anyone would, but even with the comments we have had a number of trolls, so the possibility is there. Also, if someone were to get ticked-off at the site for whatever reason, they would have the ability to go and at least partially erase the data from all their entries.
So in general I woud prefer to keep things as they are, where all data on the site (except comments) filters through the moderators.
All just IMHO. Nic, of course, has the final descision as site admin.

I think a "Mac users" link is missing in the FAQ page.
Make a thumbnail under Mac OS X uses three different apps and I will be pleased to tell you how to do.
This way, more [Mac] users will submit map.
If you're interested, e-mail me and I will do what I can to help you on this "Mac section" construction.

It works pretty well, but it's a loose system. Comments aren't the same as a request queue; as time goes on if a comment got overlooked when it was fairly recent, it probably won't be addressed, because there's no way to keep track of request comments versus miscellaneous comments. OTOH most such request comments seem to get addressed.
That being said, I know of a few maps that still have "pending" request/correction comments. Does this mean its OK to submit a "bump" comment to bring it back to the fore?
