When viewing a gallery (Latest, this day or that day, or search results) using a drop-down to set a cookie, allow the user to choose how may thumbs to view per page.
Second:
Refine Search.
The general search for "Paris Hilton" should not return all maps of Paris and the Hilton Hotel. Allow quotes or assume the logical AND operator.

1) Using quotes works well for me. If I search for "Paris Hilton" (in quotes) in the search box I get only all of the posts with Paris Hilton in the Name/Title, City, or Description.
2) If I want to search just in the Name/Title I use the Advanced Search -> Multiple Search, use quotes, and check only the box for Name.
e.g Search #2 above for Paris Hilton returns:
