Lots of new area covered. Looks like the biggest update yet.

- Almost all of Israel and Lebanon (finally)
- Most all of Puerto Rico
- Most of the Caribrean islands
- Lots of Venezuela
- Lots more of Mexico
- Lots of Yemen
- Lots of the UAE including Dubai (check out the island communities along the coast!)
- Lots of Iran (including Tehran)
- Lots of Saudi Arabia (including Ryiad)
- Huge amounts on the horn of Africa (including Mugdisho)
- Much of the coast of western Africa
- I'd estimate about 20% of South America south of Brazil
- Most of the Marshall Islands
- Guam and the rest of the Marianna's Islands
- Lots more of New Zealand (finally!) and Australia
- More of India
- Almost the entire coast from Rangoon, Burma around the India, across the northerm edge of the Indian Ocean into the Persian Gulf.
- Most of the islands in the central Indian Ocean (including a very cloud covered Diego Garcia)
- Most large cities in the eastern Indian Ocean archipelago
- Lots of strips all across Asia.
- More in both North and South Korea
- Expanded coverage in Japan (especially extending out from Tokyo)
- Almost all of the Nile River in Egypt is now covered

Not new (but I haven't spent a lot of time looking):

- Doesn't seem to be a lot new in North America - (though almost all of S California is there now)
- Doesn't seem to be a lot new in Europe

I thought GEarth wasn't valid fodder for this site. You've added "hi res now" to a bunch of my maps, but the hi res is not there in GMaps.

We definitely still do GE. A while back we did not have any way to distinguish other map sets but now we do. GE, LL, and YM are all valid. If it is 'GE Only' we flag it at moderation time and the GM link goes away and a small blue earth icon is superimposed on the lower right corner of the main thumbnail.

The comments of 'now in hi res' serve two purposes.

One, it lets the original subitter know that their map is in hi res since an email often gets sent to them. Since someone was interested enough to post a site in low res they are usually thrilled to know when it goes to high res.

Second, it lets us moderators (and other helpful members of the community) know which locations need to have new thumbnails submitted. It is faster to flag a representative set of maps and then go back and start updating them.

Check out the very very high resolution in Den Haag, Netherlands in Google Earth (GM can't zoom in far enough to take advantage of it.) Wow.

It's really the better way to show us where are the secrets. Now we know that those places (who look like other insignificant places) are important places.

I think they finally admit that military things disfigure earth. And ashamed, they decide to hide it to our eyes.
Thanks to the Dutch soldiers.

As a dutchman I have to react on this topic of course! The high-resolution of Den Haag was in fact already accomplished in the update before the 'giant update'. However it's quite interesting what they exactly have censored. A few of them are logic: we have, what we call the 'working palace' of Queen Beatrix. This is the palace where she opens her mail and drinks her coffee for instance. (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&t=k&q=Netherlands&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=52.093429,4.345264&spn=0.006407,0.021458)
And they also censored the parliament building. In this building you'll find the offices of our parliament members. (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&t=k&q=Netherlands&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=52.078557,4.31649&spn=0.003205,0.010729). They actually meet at the 'Binnenhof', the building to the north.

Though there are also a few places where I can't find any reasons to censor them. They appear to be just residential areas. I shall try to figure out what locations our fine dutch government has censored and let you know asap!
