Now that we're tracking the number of views a map receives per day, I've added some charts to show the trends over time. For example, see Tiger Woods' house:

Server logs were analyzed back to 2006 to determine (without 100% accuracy) the hits per day for every map, and fed into the database for your pleasure.

That's pretty cool.
I have an idea for another cool report. It would be interesting to know if our maps are getting referenced out side VGT. I suspect so. I had tow maps last week that spiked 900+ posts in one day then went to almost nothing. I suspect Digg or something like that but can't know. Google doesn't seem to find it anywhere but our site.
Maybe there is something you can do with Referrer Logs that would provide interesting information as to which other sites are siting our maps.
Just a thought.

Maybe they're getting jiggy with it?
I have Google Analytics running on the pages, so I can see over time what referrers link to what pages. For example, the reason Brett Favre has been so popular these last few days (http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/brett-favres-home/) was a mention on WGN Radio in Illinois.
I don't know if I'll be able to display referrers on VGT, as tracking it can be expensive, but I'll put it on my long-winded TODO list.
