In the summer of 2013, this large neon Playboy Bunny sign caused controversy after it was installed alongside US Highway 90 near the west Texas town of Marfa. Playboy commissioned the project (nicknamed 'Playboy Marfa') with artist Richard Phillips and considered it a piece of art. Local authorities disagreed and called it an unlicensed advertisement and ordered it to be moved. The next year it was installed at the Dallas Contemporary Museum.
Along with the neon sign is a 1972 Dodge Charger, which was also moved from Marfa to Dallas.
