Alejandro Robaina (1919-2010) was a renown Cuban tobacco grower. Robaina was born into a family that had been growing tobacco since 1845 so naturally he joined the family business at the age of ten. In 1950 he took over the whole operation and achieved the status of "Godfather of Cuban tobacco". The tobacco leaves from the Robaina plantation are considered the finest in the world and have been used by high end cigar brands like Cohiba and Hoyo de Monterrey.
