This is the farm which was owned by Herbert Clutter in western Kansas. On November 15, 1959, he and three members of his family were murdered at the hands of parolees Dick Hickock and Perry Smith during an attempted robbery. The crime was subsequently detailed in Truman Capote's Pulitzer Prize winning novel "In Cold Blood".
