Built during the 1984-1985 off-season, The Diamond is currently ('06 season) the home field of the Richmond Braves of the International League, the AAA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. The stadium is owned by the Richmond Metropolitan Authority who also leases the field to Virginia Commonwealth University for their baseball team's home games. The Braves, though, want a new modern stadium and if one doesn't get built soon, they're going to leave town for a city that will build them one.
