Lockheed Quiet Star YO-3A After the vietnam war I recall reading about super-quite recon planes that flew at night at low levels.
here... I've found it on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army-Lockheed_YO-3A |

Thanks for the tip. After Googling images of the YO=3A,
http://images.google.com/images?q=YO-3A&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=N&tab=wi I am convinced this is much larger than the aircraft pictured. and I believe it is jet powered. |

I don't think it is a YO-3A, but rather the earlier verison QT-2 shown in the upper left corner of the first photo panel on this page.
http://www.yo-3a.com/history.html Note the way the vertical stabilizer is forward of the horizonal stabilizer; the shape of the wing, and the single seat cockpit. It's just the propeller that is either missing or too small to see. |

The plane on the right is a B-66 Destroyer, I'm still not convinced what the plane on the left is.

The long-winged aircraft in this map is a Grob G-520 Strato (Egret), originally intended as a cheap alternative to the U-2. Of the six built, one flies for Australia, while four remain in service in the US, utilized by agencies like the CIA and DEA as a platform for ELINT and high-altitude radio relay, as well as atmospheric sciences.

i worked on the egret program for approx. 3.5 yrs and while some of your info is correct, there is a lot more to the aircraft and the program available to the public. one interesting item; it broke the record for time to climb, max alt obtained and max alt. sustained for a manned turbo-prop aircraft.
