The King Edward is an historic hotel built in 1923. The hotel was considered the centerpiece of downtown society for 40 years until closing in 1967. For 40 years the building the building lay vacant and considered for demolition. In 2006 a partnership was formed to restore the hotel and completed in 2009. Today, the Hilton Garden Inn Jackson Downtown and apartments fill the building.
