He is best known for inventing guitar playing styles such as licks, chord progressions, and fretting techniques. He was also known for his partnership with his wife, Mary Ford. She died in 1977.

Les Paul was born on June 9, 1915. He passed away on August 12, 2009, at the age of 93 years old. For 15 years and right up to his death, he preformed Monday nights at the Iridium Jazz Club, which is featured on this site.
