In 2016, the headquarters was siezed by a militia, including two sons of Cliven Bundy, who was involved in his own armed standoff against the US government in April-May 2014 on his ranch in Nevada.

The militia claims to be "peacefully protesting" the prison sentences of two arsonists who set wildfires in 2001 and 2006 which spread into federally protected wildlife preserves.
