Vlad the Impaler's Poenari Castle

Poenari Castle is located on Mount Cetatea and was built around the 13th century by the rullers of Wallachia. In the 15th century, Vlad III repaired the fortress and used it as one of his main forts. The fort was used in Vlad's defense against the Ottoman Empire in 1462.
