ossewa: On our way to Namibia from South Africa, stayed over in Kanye, Botswana for a night and visited the dam at sunset. We also met some local youngsters camping at the dam, some of them ex-South Africans, now living in Botswana. Camping at the dam is free, there are no fences, and we were told by the locals that there are occasionally wild animals such as hyenas and lions seen in the area, although not very frequently near towns and villages.
