Bubble pictureStonehenge
The black rectangle in the middle of the map is the car park and information centre for Stonehenge. The structure itself is opposite the car park on the other side of the road. It lies about 30 yards from the road. You cannot discern it at all at this resolution.

>>>”..this is where the First Fleet landed in January 1788…”

Strictly speaking, that’s not correct.

On 19 January, 1788, the First Fleet anchored in Botany Bay to the south. This is recognised as the landing site. However, it was soon realised that Botany Bay was not suitable for a new settlement, so the fleet moved a short distance north to Port Jackson (aka Sydney Harbour) to establish the new colony of New South Wales.

Bubble pictureValley of the Temples
I just came back from a holiday in Sicily. I spent a whole day wandering around the Valley of the Temples – what an awesome experience! The temple in the thumbnail is the Temple of Concordia (erected in 430 BC). It is the most well preserved example of Doric architecture in the world.

Bubble pictureJuno & Gold Beach
I don’t think this is both Gold and Juno beaches. According to the maps I have seen, this is Gold beach only. Juno is just off the map to the east (right). British forces landed at Gold, Canadian forces at Juno.

The poster has not mentioned that Mt. Ararat is supposedly the final resting place of Noah’s Ark (as well as being a popular peak for mountain climbers).
