Forgive me for this lack of historical dates (the below story was tought to us during school) but this ship also helped at the determination of the east coastline borders between Turkey and Greece. Yeah! Soon we will be the first city that will have more sunken ships than fishes hahahahahaha! It is really something authorities should deal with as there are so many ships (sunken or abbandoned) that soon as the ship routes increase (due to increased needs) we won't have any free place for ships to berth. Except the fact of danger there is also pollution. Rusty metals in the bottom of the Pireaus sea is not the best example of ecologist plan.
And to add one more information about this place, the city on the right is Chalkida. Due to flood-tide it is a daily phenomenon to see a strong sea stream heading sometimes north and sometimes south under that bridge. It is so strong that it is used for training by Sea Cannoe clubs:)

You are right. Some of these ships are waiting to be repaired or for maintenance tho. Many ships are repaired in Perama port 37.9592, 23.5611 and you can find also ships waiting to become scrap metals at Kinosoura peninsula of Salamis island at 37.9477, 23.5640 :)
This aircraft was bought as scrap metal and transformed to a cafeteria. It is placed near the village of Kalavrita. There is also a Ski center on these mountains.
Actually this is the Zea marina. In this marina you can find a lot of yachts and fisher's boats too:) The Pireaus harbour is located few meters NE of that marina Latitude 37.9429 Longitude 23.6383
This is the 114 fighter wing base. It's the home base for all the Greek Air Force Mirage 2000. Till rescently (1-2 years ago) was also the home base for G.A.F. Mirage F1G aircrafts but they are now out of service. The aircrafts you see are not flying anymore. They are stored there till they are transformed to scrap metal. From what i see (left side to right side) there is an HU-16B Albatros, 2 Lockheed T-33 (it was used as trainning aircraft) and all the rest are F-104G except the 2 triangle...
In the same AFB except the CL 215 + CL 415 Canadairs you can find G.A.F. big transport aircrafts like C-130 Hercules. During summer period in this AFB rented hellicopters also park there. That happens due to the wood fires which increase from June to August.
