Yes, they are different. Kremlin is the walled area with palaces and churches shown in the thumbnail. Red square is the longish wide area on its east side with the St. Basil's Cathedral at the SE end of it and Mausoleum of Lenin on the side of it by the Wall of Kremlin.

Sorry, just checked and you are right. Resolution on the Stromboli (real one) is so bad that I didn't even notice it when I went looking for it.
