Picher School graduated its final class of 11 students in May 2009. Peak population occurred in 1926 with 14,252 residents. As of November 2010, it was reported that Picher still had "one business and six occupied houses”. Because of lead and zinc ore mining... another city is pushed aside and is now dangerous to all.

About 35 yrs ago, I was dating a relative of the (then) owners. One saturday he invited me to a "BBQ"...little did I know the simple BBQ would be at this grand place. The outside was simply beautiful. The gardens were gorgeous. The interior of the estate was breathtaking. I remember a staircase so wide you could drive a car down it. AND a fireplace that must have been 6ft tall...and 7 ft wide, you could walked right in. One time a really grand old home.
I have many (autographed) photos of Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger in my collection. The directions say that I would have had to taken the pic. The photos I have are not copyrighted....and are seen in the public often. I just wanted the 'youngsters' to see a perfect match to what the rock is. Thanks for the info!
I just posted the Lone Ranger rock from the opening scene of the 50's TV show. I looked all around to see if it was here, but didn't find it. (If I duplicated it....sorry.)
