43-48910 / CK-Y "The Brass Hat" on display at the 101st Airborne Museum, now the Don F. Pratt Museum. The aircraft carries fake markings (the real 43-48910 crashed in 1948), and its real identity is not yet known.
A few years back a poster spoke of a NK mountain hollowed out for a hidden launch platform for ICBMs. I poopooed the idea at he time, but this looks exactly as he/she described it. I'll try to track down the discussion.

The North Korean's are hailing today's launch as a success, claiming that a satellite is orbiting Earth transmitting patriotic anthems. Western sources are saying the missile never reached orbit.
Burning vehicles is a fairly common protest activity in France. My guess is that this is not the result of an accident (it's rare for cycles to explode into flames on impact) but was intentionally set ablaze, either as a protest or to dispose of a stolen moped.
Way cool. I particularly like the target emerging from the simulated hangar. Looks like part of the goal of the test is for pilots to identify partially obscured targets and possibly identify friendly (A-7 Corsair II) from Foe (MiG mock-ups). Not unlike our own scavenger hunt.
Anonymous, if you would like us to post the photo of the Reluctant Dragon's crew with this link, we would be more than happy to do so. It's always nice when guests and members are able to bring the overhead images to life with personal accounts and revelations.
Interesting post. I've also read that it's believed he and his henchmen spend a great deal of time in underground bunkers. The excavation of which could explain the large piles of dirt in the surrounding plots of land.
WOW!!! Finally. Congratulations on the find. We've been turning airports upside-down for years looking for this very scene. Great job, once again, Rene73
Funny find! It looked to me like the aftermath of the horrific death of a flour delivery man. I followed the flour path down the road, only to come across a gruesome patch of red and orange right in the middle of it (Blood?). But then realized I was seeing the florescent orange pants of the clean-up worker, stretched and blurred by the Google street-view camera being so near to the worker.
Marielle, for your own security, it is probably not a good idea to post so much personal information in the comments on this site or any other site. I will paraphrase your message so its intent remains intact, but will remove your message so that the names and e-mail addresses of you and your relatives remains secure.
Mariel has a father who works on this ship, and was requesting that we update its location every day so she could track it. Unfortunately, Mariel, these images were...
It was at the height of the Battle of Britain. An Irish Spitfire pilot was being interviewed on the BBC, detailing his harrowing escape after being jumped by two German Fighters.
The Irish fighter pilot, " I had just circled over the White Cliffs of Dover, when suddenly, these two Fokkers came at me, diving right out of the sun."
The BBC correspondent, "For you folks at home, Fokkers is the type of fighter aircraft the Germans were piloting."
Definitely intended for first strike. Otherwise, they risk losing all their aircraft with a couple bunker-busters at each end of the runway before they ever got off the ground.
There's not enough evidence that this is a professional team. If you can provide supporting documentation that this is a professional lacrosse team, we will reinstate the points.
Since it is landing at the Air Force Academy, the pilot may be a cadet or possibly in the military; however there is not enough evidence other than the proximity of the plane to the academy that this is a military aircraft. I'm going to have to withhold points on this one.
No conspiracies here. Just limited time constraints of the moderators. We usually correct maps the poster requests corrections to. Or, if there is an unambiguous description of the map provided by anonymous users like yourself. Otherwise, we generally leave it to comments box to sort things out.
Jink around with this one and you can catch the whole air wing posing for pictures over the red banner with the Eagle and Raptor as a backdrop. I didn't lock in the coords and haven't been able to duplicate the shot ;0(.
Thanks, connieUSMC. Accounts like yours make all the hours of scanning runways worthwhile. Well, that and the fact there is usually a cool plane down there somewhere. Really liked the pics!!
I think the discolored area in question is vegetation rather than blacktop. The circles seem to have antennas associated with them and I imagine the broom-shaped objects do as well.
Nice job, mic1us. I knew there had to be at least one F-16 in flight at this strip. There's one scene where three are taxiing off the runway together. With any luck, you will find the other two still airborne as well. I didn't find any, though, after hours of trying.
I think this new format will lead to hundreds of interesting new maps. The new layout makes it effortless to flip from one map provider to the next. So if there's not something of interest in one, you have 3x the chances of finding it in the other maps, not to mention the 4 compass views of BEV.
Wow! I don't know how you do it. I've spent days looking for these guys when I learned they were being restored at Paine Field, but never came close. Do you ever post an "average" map?
Good find jtouran. You'll find the way this group pours over runways around the world, it's very rare that aircraft caught in the act of taking off or landing isn't posted by multiple users.
Here are some spectacular shots of the Blue Angels 20' above the bay during San Francisco's Fleet Week, as well as other performers: http://home.comcast.net/~bzee1a/
Another great one! I can't tell you how many hours I've spent trolling empty ocean just looking for such a find. Somewhere, there's got to be something similar in BEV. Their out there.
