It is a strike that ran from April 15 to August 1, 2008.

It's not advertising. It's called "Moi Non" by contemporary artist Gerald Van der Kaap.
This artwork refer to the Jean-Luc Godard movie, Le Mépris. http://www.geraldvanderkaap.com/framednew.html
This elephant named Samba is famous. A lot of petitions to free this poor animal.
“Samba, the elephant has lived in a European Circus for more than 15years. Every season she travels thousands of kilometres from venue tovenue, crossing national borders between Member States. Her life consists of performance, temporary shelters, and her ‘beast wagon’.Despite her high profile, she is largely ‘forgotten’.”
This is a 1953 Swedish Hanö class minesweeper.
It was bought for the filming of a movie about piracy. The scenes had to be shot off the coast of Corsica.
First problem for production: the presence of the skull and crossbones painted on the front of the bridge. Such representation is forbidden by French law even for a movie. The vessel was then detained by the Maritime Affairs.
Second problem, the production had big financial problems and also had to abandon the movie...
Very nice !
It's the shooting of a tv movie called « Les trois font la paire ». Remake of a Sacha Guitry 1957 thriller.
Director : Éric Summer. Cast : Édouard Montoute, Bruno Madinier and Clémence Brétécher.

You can read : "Camion clochard" (Tramp van)
Did the guy put or remove the sign ? You can see a beer bottle on the windshield. And under the wiper, it's look like a biscuit box.
Strange.
Yes and mixed with the "Sunday afternoon on the Grande Jatte island" from Seurat. (On the left of the wall)
You can notice how the "Google Automatic Bluring Faces Machine" anonymize the painting...
It's funny, when you turn on the "show labels" layer on Googlemaps, you can see that the ornemental basins of the gardens are considered as roundabouts with directions...
The "Land > Roads - Misc" category is the better choice until the addition of a new cat. For exemple : http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/18397/
It's just a street. But no street cat. And in what category : Building or land ?
The street above is named from the bank name. So, it could fit in a "street" category.
When I've posted this, the homeless peoples on this place were in the news in Paris. And no embankment, riverside road or quay category. (And the bank category is not for this sort of bank)
But you're right, "in the news" is not anymore appropriate for this post since i'm incapable to find the news in question.
It is situated on a small island, now united with the mainland, where in the first half of the XIII century there was the Chiesa di Sant’Antonio del Mare which was destroyed in the XVI century. The quarantine of shipping crews with suspicious epidemics was carried out here. The new Lazzaretto was built between 1830 and 1832. The complex now houses the Italian Lega Navale and looks like a large exedra.
Yes, Sometimes I turn the picture to obtain the "normal" view. Verticals are verticals and second floor is above the first floor.
But I do that only for the close-up view. For the larger ones, it's pointless.
The Art Nouveau Maxim's des Mers, designed by Pierre Cardin, is a floating version of Maxim's restaurants in Paris and New York. Of the 16 suites - each with a different theme - perhaps the most opulent is the Sarah Bernhardt, which has a large Jacuzzi in a mirrored room. In the winter, she sails the Caribbean, in summer, the Mediterranean. ($600 or more a person per day.)
